1973D KHD - DDO (RePhotographed)

Still not sure on this coin so I rephotographed it. Ring lit with half the ring's light blocked and the other half diffused. Still not liking the outcome but it continues to show notching on the I, N, and G of 'IN GOD' which is indicative of doubled dies.

Foiled by Light! [U]

UPDATE: Well not necessarily 'foiled' by light, more like a 'lesson learned' that how you light a coin can determine how well a coin's variety can be seen and sometimes may give an impression of doubling that may not necessarily be there or is so minor it's not worth getting excited about. I tried a few other lighting techniques after these photos were taken and I've come to the concensus that the 1971D and 1973P's are not DDOs, but that the 1973D 99% likely is.

Am I seeing things? [U]

UPDATE: It's not unanimous whether these coins are DDO or not, but regardless if it is a DDO and that is notching we see, it's so minor that it's not worth getting excited about.

Ok this is getting a bit ridiculous, two more Kennedy halves showing notching on "IN GOD" - these shots are of two 1973 P halves from the SAME ROLL. Perhaps there's some master doubling on this year?

1998D KHD - Struck Through Rim Burr [U]

UPDATE: Confirmed. Struck through Rim Burr.

I think I found another Struck Through Rim Burr, this time on a Kennedy half-dollar. This one clearly shows where the metal was removed from.

1971D KHD - DDO [U]

UPDATE: It's not unanimous whether this coin is a DDO or not, but regardless if it is a DDO and that is notching we see, it's so minor that it's not worth getting excited about.

I think i just found a second KHD doubled die in the same day after never finding one before and searching through around $40,000 in halves. Doubling looks most evident in the 7 of the date.

1973D KHD - DDO [U]

UPDATE: The lighting may have played a part in the notching we see here so I relit it a couple of different ways and tooks some additional photographs. See later posts for an update.

Pretty positive on this one since the notching is extremely evident on the "IN GOD". Only reason I doubt myself is because the doubling on "WE TRUST" is not as strong as on the example in my cherrypicker's guide - but this could possibly be a late die state.
